Mid rivers Roller Girls is an all female flat-track roller derby league based at Great Skate in St. peters Missouri. The league promotes and supports competition between determined, beautiful and unique women.
In additiom to providing wicked athletic entertainment to the area, the Mid Rivers Roller Girls support charitible organizations that benefit our community. We are dedicated to community building, women's sports, health and fitness.
The Mid Rivers Roller Girls is an exciting, fun and professional league that gives all shapes, sizes and skill levels a chance to enjoy roller derby. We have an open enlistment policy, no matter what your skill level is, we will teach you to be the best skater you can be.
Men and women of all ages are welcome to participate as referees, coaches, time keepers, stat trackers, production staff and more.
Referees are an integral part of the Roller Derby family. They are comprised of men and women who attend practices and training sessions to develop the skills needed to lay down the law and keep track of scoring at league bouts (games).
Basic game play has two teams of five skaters each. The object of the game is for the players at the back of the pack, called the Jammers, to make their way past the other teams players once, then make a second lap through the pack, scoring a point for every opposing player they pass. The other skater, called Pivots and Blockers, are ther to keep the opposing Jammer from getting through.
Jammer
Designated by the star on her helmet and known as the speed skater. Her objective is to score one point per opponent she laps in bounds.
Pivot
Designated by stripped helmet. She sets the pace at the front of the pack and is the last line of defense. Pivots are team leaders and calls out plays on a moments notice.
Blocker
Blockers play a vital defensive role, helping their Jammer get through the pack, while working together to block the oppsing teams jammers. Blockers are identified by their solid team color helmet.
